Through hosting events and serving as a pipeline for information, we are creating opportunities to engage with and support the art form of dance.
OUR STORY
The Indy Dance Council was formed out of a passion to unite and share ALL of the amazing dance that happens in Indy, both within its dancing community and with the greater audience who supports it.
Indy Dance Council was founded by Mariel Greenlee, through an On-Ramp Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator Fellowship awarded to her by the Indiana Arts Commission in 2019, launching formally in 2021, and growing into a 501C3, producing its first Indy Dance Festival in 2023.
In this ever-changing world, dance remains a commonality and a through line across cultures and populations, all over the world. It is one physical human language that we use to share, to mourn, to celebrate, to express ourselves, to gather, and to tell our stories.
After countless conversations with dancing friends, peers, and supporters we collectively decided that a place and a way needed to exist to come together and to get the word out:
